The AI week, for a private banker
A real edition, written for: Private Banker
The one thing
How will you verify the sources in your next client proposal now that ChatGPT may include sponsored content?
NVIDIA to acquire Hugging Face
NVIDIA has agreed to acquire Hugging Face, the open model sharing platform. Chief executive Jensen Huang announced the deal on NVIDIA's blog. He put the price at just under $13 billion. NVIDIA says Hugging Face will stay open to the whole AI industry. Developers will keep their choice of models, frameworks, clouds and chips. NVIDIA compute will not be required to build or deploy through the platform. Hugging Face will continue to support open source and open weight models from all builders. NVIDIA says its infrastructure and engineering can improve reliability, safety, model evaluation and deployment. The Hugging Face team and its brand will remain. No closing date or regulatory timeline was given.
Why it matters for you
Your research stack depends on open models and platforms. NVIDIA just bought the biggest one.
- Hugging Face stays open and multi-cloud, but NVIDIA now steers its roadmap
- A $13B deal signals where the vendor ecosystem is consolidating
- Your existing workflows keep working, but future integrations may favor NVIDIA

Dots launch: always-on AI assistants
OpenAI launched Dots, always-on AI assistants that work without constant direction. They run on GPT-6 Astra with their own cloud computer. Dots connect to over 4,000 apps via plugins. They learn user preferences and work 24/7 on tasks. Users can inspect a dot’s work on its cloud computer. Dots can also use a user’s laptop with permission. They message progress or questions in ChatGPT, Slack, or Teams. Built-in safeguards include read-only tools for background work. Users control access, permissions, and approvals via Custom Rules. Specialist dots for organizations have their own identity and access. These are in focused enterprise pilots. Microsoft Agent 365 will integrate specialist dots. Dots roll out to Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets.
Why it matters for you

Amazon ads now appear in ChatGPT
Amazon will let its advertisers place ads inside ChatGPT, starting with selected US brands. Amazon announced the partnership with OpenAI on Thursday. Amazon sets up and manages the campaigns. OpenAI's own ad system decides when and where ads are shown. The ads appear as text or images below a ChatGPT answer and are labelled as sponsored. Delta Vacations is among the brands in the trial. Amazon has otherwise limited access to its store by ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini while building its own shopping tools. It has been buying ads on ChatGPT itself in recent months. OpenAI began selling sponsored placements in the US in February.
Why it matters for you
ChatGPT answers you rely on may now include sponsored content. That changes how you verify sources.
- Ads appear as labeled text or images below answers, managed by Amazon
- This affects the objectivity of the responses you use for client proposals
- You will need to cross-check sponsored content against your own data
Try this
Review a recent ChatGPT output for sponsored labels before using it in a proposal

AI-integrated malware now tracked
Cisco Talos built an open-source framework called CAIRN. It flags AI-integration traits in malware to classify and track samples. CAIRN already found a Windows hacking tool named CLOSEDQUORUM. CLOSEDQUORUM polls DeepSeek, Qwen, Mistral and Google Gemini for directives. The tool has no human input mechanism. It steals login credentials and cryptocurrency. Researchers linked it to cybercriminal forums from 2025. They could not confirm its real-world use. CAIRN also uncovered about 20 other AI-integrated malware examples. Researchers say AI is becoming operationalized for attackers.
Why it matters for you
Your client data is a target. Attackers are now using AI to automate intrusions.
- Cisco Talos found malware polling models like DeepSeek and Qwen for directives
- This is a new attack vector for financial services, including private banking
- Defenses need to monitor for AI-generated artifacts, not just human patterns
Try this
Ask your security team whether they track AI-generated artifacts in malware

Build this
Every week, one small thing to build with AI in something you actually care about. No work in it. Five minutes to set up, and worth keeping if it earns a second run.
A shortlist of five dishes you have never cooked, with the one it ranked last and why
Five minutes to set up
Context: I cook at home and want to try new recipes this week. Task: Find five dishes I have never cooked that use [main ingredient you have on hand]. Rank them by how well they fit a weeknight meal. Defend the one you ranked last: what would have to change for it to move up? Constraints: - Use only ingredients commonly found in a well-stocked kitchen - Each dish must take under 60 minutes to prepare Output: Ranked list with a one-sentence reason for each, and a defense of the last-ranked dish
- Have the main ingredient you want to use ready in brackets
- Run this in ChatGPT and review the ranked list for dishes you already know
- Check that the defense of the last-ranked dish names a concrete change, not a vague preference
- Save the prompt as a ChatGPT Project to re-run with a new ingredient
Yours arrives Thursday.
