Google Vids now lets users extract audio tracks from video clips. The audio can be separated with a single click. Detached audio tracks can be edited independently on the timeline. They can also span freely across multiple scenes. The rollout began on October 19, 2026. It reaches all Google Workspace customers and personal account users. No admin or user settings control the feature.
What changed
Video tracks could only be muted or unmuted as a single entity and were strictly scene-bound.
What it unlocks
Extracting a video's audio as a standalone clip that can play under other video tracks or span across multiple scenes.
