Google opened a beta of Gemini-based data classification in Google Drive, which automatically applies sensitivity labels to files based on written instructions from an administrator rather than a manually trained model. The labels feed data loss prevention rules, retention policies and audit investigations, and file owners can review or change what was applied. It is limited to Enterprise Plus, Google AI Pro for Education and Frontline Plus licenses, with rollout expected to finish by the end of September.
