Release2026-11-03

Google added Guided Learning to Google Classroom. It acts as a step-by-step coach for students. It is available globally in Classroom today. Google is piloting Guided Learning in Search for select U.S. schools later this month. School admins now control whether AI tools are on for K-12 accounts. Admins must turn them on explicitly. The change covers Gemini, Gemini Notebook, Gemini in Classroom and Search. Google will share rollout details with schools in the coming months.

What changed

AI tools in Google Classroom and Search provided direct answers to student queries.

What it unlocks

Students receive step-by-step coaching instead of direct answers in Google Classroom and Search.

What you need to act on it

  • Guided Learning in Search is limited to a pilot in select U.S. schools
  • School administrators must explicitly enable AI products for K-12 student accounts
