Release2026-10-09

GitHub Copilot now offers Claude Haiku 5.5 to Pro and higher tiers. Local sandboxing is now generally available for Copilot CLI, the Copilot app, and VS Code. It restricts agent access to files, networks, and credentials at no extra cost. The Copilot app now supports separate GitHub accounts for license and repositories. Copilot CLI lets users discover and switch local models from Ollama. VS Code users can now view agent sessions side by side in a grid. Users can free disk space by cleaning up inactive session worktrees in chat.

What changed

Local sandboxing was in preview. Claude Haiku 5.5 was not available in Copilot. Separate GitHub accounts for license and repositories were not supported. Local models in Copilot CLI required manual configuration. Agent sessions in VS Code could not be viewed side by side.
