LM Studio (Element Labs, Inc.) launched LM Studio Bionic on 16 July 2026, a separate desktop application built as an agent for open-weight models. Bionic supports Code projects that inspect and edit local codebases with inline diffs and agentic code search, and Work projects that handle documents, PDFs, decks and spreadsheets in a sandboxed environment with automatic checkpoints and native web search. Models can run locally through the LM Studio runtime, via LM Link, or on LM Studio Secure Cloud, where requests are processed transiently; the company states Zero Data Retention and no training on user data. Named supported models include GLM 5.2 and Kimi K2.7 Code, with local voice transcription shipping on Mistral AI's Voxtral. Cloud use requires an LM Studio account with billing.
