A survey by The Predictive Index found that many people managers use general-purpose AI chatbots to prepare for difficult performance conversations, and that a large share have typed employee names and performance details into them. Fewer than half of the organizations surveyed have a written policy on AI use in performance management. Managers said they struggle most with delivering criticism, anticipating reactions and staying objective.
