Lam Research began construction of a 120,000-square-foot research and development centre in Tualatin, Oregon, aimed at manufacturing processes for chips used in artificial intelligence. It forms part of a planned $3 billion, five-year expansion of the company's laboratory network across the United States, Asia and Europe. The building is not expected to open until 2028, and a related county tax agreement still needs state approval.
