MIT Sloan Management Review published a report on CMO priorities for 2027. It identifies five urgent concerns for marketing leaders. AI is reshaping marketing staffing, metrics, media, and enterprise role. Zero-click platforms have made traditional click metrics obsolete. The media landscape is increasingly fragmented and algorithmically tailored. CMOs must reposition marketing as a growth function at the executive level. They must also transform their teams and workflows to integrate AI. Hiring remains a critical challenge amid rapid skill displacement. New metrics are needed to measure performance on zero-click AI platforms. The report is based on interviews with 15 global CMOs.
