AXA’s global risk survey now ranks AI as the top expert concern. Only 9% of those experts believe authorities are ready for it. In Europe that figure falls to 3%. The survey drew on 4,345 experts across 62 countries. It also polled 24,000 members of the general public across 19 countries. AI losses once sat inside standard cyber policies without being named. That arrangement is breaking down as carriers add AI-specific exclusions. Clients are now asking whether their cyber policies cover generative AI losses. Generative AI is making impersonation and fraud harder to detect. Energy risks climbed back to fifth place among experts. Geopolitical instability and AI’s power demand are driving the rebound. Recognition of risk is high across categories. Preparedness remains low across the same categories. 68% of the public believe insurers have an important role in protection.
