Ramp built Laminar, its own agent harness. It tried many platforms first and chose to own the loop. Laminar supports interactive chat, headless data processing, coding and long-horizon agents. It is model-agnostic and avoids vendor lock-in. Ramp wanted faster iteration and full control over observability. The harness manages loops, tools, sandboxes, subagents and streaming. It uses Postgres, Temporal and S3 for durability. Agents run in the cloud by default. Laminar keeps sessions open to new input. The team prioritized boring, proven technology.
What changed
Ramp used multiple external agent platforms and in-house frameworks built as side projects.
What it unlocks
