Kyle Corbitt argues AGI agents must match human worker productivity to justify their cost. Current compute can support agents replacing 95 million full-time workers. The top 95 million earners make at least $35 an hour. An AGI agent would need to cost at least $35 an hour to be viable. Today’s H100 rental price is about $3.52 an hour. Prices would need to rise to about $30 per H100-hour for supply and demand to balance. Less conservative assumptions could push prices to $75 per H100-hour. The analysis assumes Opus 5.5-level compute requirements for AGI. It also assumes Anthropic’s inference margin is around 50%.

  • $3.52 per H100-hour today
  • $30 per H100-hour at AGI parity
  • 95M full-time workers replaceable with current compute
  • $35 per hour wage floor for top 95M earners
