xAI released Imagine Image 2.0, its new image generation and editing model, as the Quality Mode on grok.com and in the Grok mobile apps. It adds tools for editing a chosen area of a picture, removing backgrounds, combining several reference images, resizing into different frame shapes, and pre-built templates for tasks such as product shots and headshots. Access through the developer interface is not available yet.
What changed
The previous Imagine image model offered generation without region-level editing tools, multi-image references or ready-made task templates.
What it unlocks
Editing one selected part of an image while leaving the rest untouched, combining several reference images in one generation, and exporting subjects on a transparent background.
