The US National Institute of Standards and Technology opened a $46.5 million funding opportunity for 14 Manufacturing Extension Partnership centers, which help small and medium-sized manufacturers adopt robotics, artificial intelligence, automation and other advanced technologies. Awards cover 14 named states and territories and run annually for up to five years, subject to performance and funding reviews. Applicants must provide at least half the money from non-federal sources, and applications close on 21 August 2026.

Existing MEP centers operated under prior awards, and the Commerce Department had terminated funding for 10 state MEP programs last year.
