Release2026-09-15

OpenAI Foundation launched Public Data for Health to fund high-quality scientific datasets. It awarded $500,000 to 1Day Sooner for Ruxandra Teslo’s biotech archive idea. The archive targets regulatory filings and safety data from bankrupt biotech firms. A separate $40 million grant goes to UNC for novel cancer vaccine data. OpenAdmet will also receive support for drug effect prediction competitions. The foundation aims to give away $1 billion by the end of 2026. It holds a 26% stake in OpenAI, potentially worth $250 billion. The foundation operates separately from OpenAI but shares its mission. 1Day Sooner already holds three datasets from prior acquisitions. Two recent bids for drug company files failed this year.
