Google released a Gemini desktop app for Windows. It is available today worldwide for Windows 10 and 11. A keyboard shortcut, Alt + Space, opens Gemini over whatever the user is working on. Google suggests quick uses such as checking a fact in a document or generating title ideas. The app also holds longer work in its own window. It can hand multi-step tasks to Gemini Spark, an agent that runs continuously. It can draft summaries by pulling information from Gmail and Google Drive. It also generates images with Nano Banana and video with Gemini Omni. Google says the app is lightweight and does not slow the computer down. Spark and Omni require a paid Google AI subscription and are limited to adults.
