xAI released Imagine Image 2.0 as the new Quality Mode in Grok's Imagine image service on the web and in its iOS and Android apps. It adds editing of selected areas, background removal for transparent exports, resizing to a chosen frame, several reference images in one generation, and ready-made templates for jobs such as product shots and headshots. There is no programming interface yet, so it can only be used inside Grok's own apps.
What changed
Grok's earlier image quality model ranked 14th on the text-to-image leaderboard and lacked region-level editing.

Editing one selected area of an image while leaving the rest untouched, and combining several reference images into a single consistent generation.
