The US Department of War added Starshield AI's Grok for Government to GenAI.mil. GenAI.mil is the department's platform for generative AI tools. The tool is accredited for Controlled Unclassified Information at Impact Level 5. Personnel get deep-thinking inference and three reasoning modes: Auto, Fast and Expert. They also get custom workspaces, saved projects and reusable "playbooks" for institutional knowledge. The department names uses from acquisition market research to supply chain management. GenAI.mil has onboarded over 1.7 million unique users since launching nine months ago. Officials say adding another vendor avoids being locked to one supplier. The Chief Digital and AI Office and the research and engineering office run the effort.
