Surgeons at University College London Hospitals used an AI system during a live brain tumour operation, the first time such software has assisted a neurosurgeon in real time. The system read the endoscope's video feed as the operation proceeded and marked critical structures at the base of the brain, while the surgeon stayed in control. It was built at UCL, runs on NVIDIA hardware, and remains part of a clinical trial rather than routine care.
