A Reddit user reported MecAgent scans local drives for CAD files. It uploads .sldprt, .sldasm, .slddrw, .step and .stl files to AWS. The uploads occur even when the screen is locked. The free plan terms grant MecAgent a permanent license to use the data. That license includes AI training and sharing with third parties. Deletion requests do not revoke the license. MecAgent apologized for unclear terms. It suspended the free plan and data collection until terms are rewritten. Paid plans do not collect data. Users can request deletion via support email.
