Postmedia, Torstar, The Globe and Mail and The Canadian Press sued Anthropic in Ontario. They claim Anthropic used their content without permission to train Claude. The suit says Anthropic scraped their websites and ignored terms of service. It also says Anthropic bypassed copy protection on their sites. The publishers state Anthropic gained commercially from their work. The same group sued OpenAI in 2024 and that case is unresolved. Anthropic has not responded to the claim. The allegations remain unproven in court.
