Anthropic will make auto mode the default in Claude Code for Pro, Max and Team accounts from 14 August 2026. In that mode the tool acts without asking for approval at each step, stopping only for actions judged irreversible, destructive or reaching outside the user's own environment. Anthropic says its own testing found auto mode caught more harmful actions than human review, and it has added prompt-injection screening and configurable deny rules.
