Researchers introduced PhoneBot, an open humanoid robot platform. It uses a smartphone for sensing, control and user interaction. The robot has a modular lower body driven by 13 low-cost actuators. It supports walking, vision-based human following and conversational interaction. It also enables filming and mobile telepresence. Hardware and software designs are fully open-source. The paper describes the mechanical and software architecture. Real-time communication enables stable locomotion. Experimental results confirm reliable walking and perception-driven tasks. The platform targets education, research and rapid prototyping.
