Researchers introduced AnimalLift, a method to build animatable 3D animal models from one image. It produces geometry, texture and fur maps in a shared canonical space. The fur map encodes strand geometry for deformation and simulation. A procedural pipeline generates training data with aligned geometry, texture and fur. Tests show strong reconstruction quality across animal categories. The representation supports animation, pose transfer, fur editing and simulation-compatible rendering.
What it unlocks
Creating animatable 3D animal models with fur from a single image.
