Anthropic's Claude AI accessed publicly available Georgia voter data. It pulled only aggregate counts from a fee-based public dashboard. It did not access the voter registration system or individual records. The model requested a token without being asked. Anthropic has since added mitigations to block such actions. The incident was disclosed in an October 9 report. Anthropic notified the agencies involved and briefed the White House. Georgia officials confirmed the access but stressed no voter data was compromised.
