Dollar General is rolling out AI-based planning across its North American operations. The retailer partnered with Relex Solutions, a supply chain software firm, on forecasting, replenishment and allocation. The platform will handle store replenishment, ordering schedules, lead times, supplier coordination and fulfillment methods. Sales patterns and other demand factors feed directly into planning. Stores and distribution centers will work from the same data. Jeff Vaughan, who leads global inventory management, said the single environment improves visibility across the network. CEO Todd Vasos said on an earnings call that efficiency gains can offset cost pressures. He described the company as early in its AI work and building agentic systems for internal workflows. Relex announced the partnership on 27 August. Lowe's and United Natural Foods have adopted the same vendor's technology.
