Waymo, the self-driving car unit of Alphabet, said it plans to open driverless ride-hailing to the public in Munich toward the end of 2027, its first market in the European Union. Staff will begin driving vehicles manually around the city in the coming weeks to build detailed maps and check how the software handles local conditions. Testing will continue with trained specialists behind the wheel before any public service starts.
