Release2026-10-08

Google Cloud launched the Gemini agent as a single universal agent for work. It answers questions, handles knowledge work, creates media and writes and runs code. It works directly inside Gmail, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Chat and Calendar. It carries the same memory, skills and controls across all Workspace apps. It adds new data and analytics skills for plain-language operational insights. It offers industry-specific tools for financial services and legal teams. It secures and governs agents through identity, policy, sandboxing and network controls. It includes cost controls via multi-model orchestration, Smart Routing and real-time spend caps. It runs on the best model for the job across the Gemini and Claude families. It connects to systems like Confluence, Salesforce, BigQuery and MCP servers. It uses skills, tools and context to learn business workflows and norms. It maintains session, semantic, procedural and episodic memory. It can act as a personal assistant, team member or role-specific coworker agent.
