ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and Grok all broke down on Thursday morning. Thousands of users filed error reports on DownDetector. OpenAI reported elevated errors across ChatGPT and Codex. Anthropic said several Claude models were affected, including Opus 5. The Claude fault hit Claude.ai, Claude Code, Claude Cowork and the API. Anthropic blamed an infrastructure issue and said service returned at 16:16 UTC. SpaceX apologised and blamed an outage at its Memphis compute centre. Elon Musk said corrective action is being taken. All the services were back by early afternoon. No provider explained why so many failed at once.
