Taiwanese security research firm TeamT5 reports that Chinese state-affiliated hacking groups have more than doubled the volume of their attacks since they began using DeepSeek and other freely available AI models to handle routine work and help build malicious software. Researchers said the specific model behind an attack often cannot be identified, but DeepSeek is popular locally because it performs well and can be customised.
