Gartner reported that 55% of chief supply chain officers cannot say what return their AI spending is producing, even though two thirds of supply chain digital budgets now go to AI. The firm attributes this to change management resources being spread evenly across initiatives rather than concentrated on the ones tied to business outcomes. Gartner predicts that by 2030 organizations that allocate change effort deliberately will see twice the return on AI projects.

  • 55% of chief supply chain officers unclear on AI ROI
  • 67% of supply chain digital investments allocated to AI
  • 394 supply chain professionals surveyed (Nov 2025-Feb 2026), revenue at least $250 million
  • 135 senior supply chain leaders surveyed (Jan-Apr 2026)
  • twice the ROI on AI initiatives by 2030 for those who rightsize change management
