Perplexity added effort controls to Computer. Users pick Light, Standard, High or Ultra from a slider. Perplexity then selects the model and reasoning level. Lower settings use cheaper models. Credit usage depends on the work performed. The slider is in the omnibar on web now. Android and iOS will get it later. Custom controls remain for users who want to pick a model themselves. The orchestrator delegates parts of the work to supporting agents. Model selection is informed by Perplexity’s experience with billions of queries.
