The UK Space Agency published a ten-year AI roadmap for space. It targets 2026 to 2036. The plan covers eight AI technologies and seven investment themes. Eight recommendations guide funding and capability building. The UK aims to lead in trusted, certifiable AI for space systems. It will focus on assurance, edge AI, and downstream analytics. The roadmap prioritizes space domain awareness and PNT resilience. It also seeks a national AI hub for coordination. Success will be measured by AI-enabled missions and standards leadership. The UK will avoid competing on hyperscale compute. It will instead out-integrate and out-govern global peers.
What changed
AI in UK space was fragmented, experimental, and lacked coordinated investment and governance.
