Reddit CEO Steve Huffman said Google’s AI Mode does not drive traffic to Reddit. He stated search referrals dropped by over a million per week in October. Huffman attributed this to AI Mode and AI Overviews pushing results lower. He added Reddit’s machine-translated content ranks lower outside the US. Reddit remains a top Google search term despite the drop. Huffman said Google still crawls Reddit as heavily as before. He called the shift a fundamental change in how Google works.
