Regulation2026-10-26

The Swedish government banned browser-based ChatGPT and Claude for employees. The ban took effect on 26 October 2026. It cites security concerns over data processing. A review found problematic uses of these tools in government work. Officials fear sensitive data could be stored for training without protection. Microsoft Copilot is recommended as an approved alternative. A special platform for AI assistants will allow limited continued use. The Swedish Tax Agency and National Board of Institutional Care also imposed restrictions. DeepSeek is already on the banned list. The US banned DeepSeek products last week.
