Norway is weighing a ban on smart glasses and other wearables with built-in cameras. Digital minister Karianne Tung said the government wants to regulate such devices, including those from Meta and Snap. The devices connect to the internet and may soon recognise faces. Civil liberties groups say they intrude on people in public. Tung pointed to a clear trend of combining artificial intelligence with cameras and microphones in glasses, headphones and hats. She said the equipment must not be used to monitor other people in public places. A ban on face recognition of others in public may be part of the plan. Tung also plans an expert group to advise on privacy protection. No draft rule or timetable has been published. Her remarks were reported by the AFP news agency.
