Regulation2026-09-28

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier asked a court for a temporary injunction against OpenAI. He claims OpenAI cannot properly regulate its own technology. Uthmeier cited tens of thousands of security incidents involving OpenAI and Anthropic models. He accused OpenAI of failing to warn users of ChatGPT’s dangers. He said OpenAI misrepresented ChatGPT’s safety and created a public nuisance. The motion alleges OpenAI violates children’s privacy laws by collecting data without parental consent. It also claims OpenAI lacks adequate measures to prevent minors from accessing ChatGPT. OpenAI said it is committed to working with states on AI policies. OpenAI recently paused training on its most capable models pending new safeguards. The request follows a June lawsuit alleging deceptive trade practices.
