Mistral and Mozilla announced a partnership on AI-assisted web browsing. Mistral models now power Firefox Smart Window, Mozilla's browsing assistant, which is in beta. Smart Window helps with complex searches and finds information across a user's open tabs. It can also retrieve something the user clicked away from. Mistral powers it for users in France and North America first. The United Kingdom and Germany are expected to follow later this year. Conversations are not saved on Mozilla's servers by default. Mistral has agreed to retain no user data. Both firms say the models are fine-tuned on regional languages, dialects and cultural context. Mistral says it usually sells to businesses and reaches consumers through this deal.
