Adobe said its free creative offerings passed 100 million monthly active users last quarter. That user base grew by more than 70% from a year earlier. The company gives basic access away and charges for advanced features. Executives said the goal is converting free users into paying subscribers. Anil Chakravarthy, Adobe's incoming chief executive, said engagement is starting to translate into recurring revenue. Recurring revenue from Firefly, Adobe's AI image product, rose during the quarter. Adobe also raised its full-year revenue and earnings outlook. Chakravarthy becomes president and CEO on 1 December, succeeding Shantanu Narayen. Adobe is still searching for a permanent finance chief after Dan Durn's departure. Steve Day is serving as interim CFO.
