Vancouver-based TravelAI, the operating name of UpNext Ventures Inc., announced on July 27, 2026 that it acquired the Sonder brand and intellectual property, including trademarks and domain names. The deal excluded Sonder's operating business — its properties, leases, inventory and staff — and was completed with the court-appointed Trustee of the Canadian estates after Sonder filed for bankruptcy under Canada's Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, following its November 2025 split from Marriott International. Sonder.com relaunched the same day as a curated, AI-enabled guide to boutique hotels and urban accommodations in major cities, running on what TravelAI describes as memory infrastructure that retains user tastes, preferences and history over time. CEO and co-founder John Lyotier said the brand's value now lies in discovery, memory and AI-enabled personalization. Kasa and other hospitality firms have taken over some former Sonder properties.
