C2PA published version 2.4 of its Content Credentials explainer. The standard lets creators attach tamper-evident provenance to media. It records origin, edits and AI use in a signed manifest. Verifiers can confirm the asset has not been altered since signing. The spec supports interoperable implementations across devices and platforms. It aims to help consumers, journalists and investigators check media authenticity. Publishers can use it to strengthen brand trust. Platforms can use the data for content moderation decisions. The standard does not judge content quality, only provenance integrity. It complements media literacy and fact-checking efforts.
