Unitree Robotics leads in cheap humanoid robots. Founder Wang Xingxing drove this through extreme cost-cutting and micromanagement. He personally decides nearly every product and strategy detail. Unitree’s G1 humanoid robot sells for $13,500. Its R1 robot for casual consumers sells for $4,900. Early robots had high repair return rates. Wang’s leadership style may not scale as Unitree grows. China expects to manufacture over 100,000 humanoid robots in 2026. Unitree’s IPO valuation has fallen 50% below its peak. US banned imports of foreign-made robots including Unitree’s. Unitree’s main customers are universities and research institutions.
