Medtronic invested $700 million in Cornerstone Robotics and formed a partnership with it. Medtronic also gained rights to sell Cornerstone's Sentire surgical system in select markets outside the United States. It will sell Sentire alongside its own Hugo robotic-assisted surgery system. Cornerstone Robotics is based in Hong Kong and built Sentire in-house. Sentire has finished clinical trials across several specialties. It holds approval in China, the European Union and Singapore, with a CE Mark granted in May 2026. Hugo is in use in more than 35 countries and cleared by the US regulator within the past year. Medtronic expects Hugo procedures to pass 50,000 globally by the end of its fiscal year. It plans further Hugo work including real-time AI across its digital systems. Medtronic separately put $80 million into Pi-Cardia this week.
