Google opened early access to a connector that lets outside AI assistants control Google Home devices. Assistants supporting the Model Context Protocol can use it, including Claude, ChatGPT, Hermes, OpenClaw and Google Antigravity. People can ask in plain language to review camera summaries, check activity or adjust devices. Custom smart home dashboards can also be built. Setup requires creating a Google Cloud project and granting the assistant permission. Google Nest doorbells and thermostats are supported, as are Matter and "Works with Google Home" devices. Access is limited to US subscribers on the pricier Google Home Premium Advanced tier. Google declined to say whether other tiers or countries will follow. It is gathering feedback through its developer community during the period.
