A survey of 600 U.S. consumers by marketing firm Attentive found that two-thirds of shoppers used AI assistants such as Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT to help with purchases in the past three months, rising to four-fifths among Gen Z. The most common uses were asking about a specific product, comparing options, getting recommendations and hunting for deals. Most respondents also said they expect holiday shopping and discounts to begin before Black Friday.
