Release2026-10-27

Tesla started early production of its Optimus humanoid robot in Fremont, California. The line can make 1 million units per year. Elon Musk said full rate may take a year or longer. Early customers will use Optimus for industrial tasks. Home use is planned as production scales. Tesla will build an Optimus Academy with 10,000 to 20,000 robots for training. The AI5 chip will be integrated in April to boost computing power. Customer shipments are targeted for late next year. Musk claimed Optimus will outperform competitors by then. Humanoid robot sales reached 7,000 units globally last year.
