McKinsey reports nearly nine in ten organizations use AI in at least one function. Its survey covers 1,719 respondents across 97 countries. Ramp’s index shows 55.9% of US businesses made an AI payment in September 2026. The US Census Bureau finds 19.8% of businesses used AI in a two-week period. McKinsey also reports 37% of respondents see a positive EBIT impact from AI. Each estimate uses a different denominator and definition. A payment does not confirm active use or deployment. A survey response does not prove enterprise-wide adoption. The measures also cover different timeframes and populations. The comparison highlights why adoption rates cannot be directly averaged. The figures come from a State of AI analysis.
