NVIDIA launched the OpenShell Reference Architecture for safe AI agents. It combines Vera Rubin, Vera CPUs and BlueField-4 DPUs. BlueField-4 runs NVIDIA Sentry for in-silicon enforcement. Agents think on Rubin, act on Vera and are governed on BlueField. The architecture extends to edge systems via RTX Spark, DGX Spark and DGX Station. It runs on Canonical, Red Hat, Windows and Microsoft Execution Containers. Partners include Anthropic, AWS, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google Cloud and others. ServiceNow Arc is the first production agent using OpenShell. The architecture is now available.
What changed
Agents ran without hardware-enforced containment and monitoring.
What it unlocks
Building agents that are contained, observed and policy-enforced at hardware level.
- 30x higher throughput per megawatt on NVL72
- 2x CPU performance vs x86
- 20% agent capacity boost via Sentry
What you need to act on it
- NVIDIA Vera Rubin, Vera CPUs, BlueField-4 DPUs
- enterprise OS or container layer
