GitHub added Claude Sonnet 5.5 to GitHub Copilot. It targets everyday coding tasks like building features and fixing bugs. Early tests show it matches Sonnet 5 on coding while using fewer steps, tokens, and tool calls. It also completes tasks faster. The model is billed at provider list pricing under usage-based billing. It is available to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users. Users can select it in the model picker across multiple IDEs and platforms. Rollout is gradual. Copilot Enterprise and Business admins can manage access via model policy. New models are auto-enabled unless an admin disables them.
