Financial experts discussed unresolved questions about AI agents in banking and trading. They focused on reliability, liability and regulations. FDIC chairman Travis Hill said advanced technology helps streamline banking. He noted consumers can easily move money between banks. Hill questioned how much decision-making authority depositors will delegate to AI agents. Alpaca CEO Yoshi Yokokawa asked who is liable if agents act criminally or make bad trades. Yokokawa warned against relying on agents to conduct financial trades. Hill said FDIC’s current model risk guidance does not cover agentic AI. He added the agency is developing future guidelines for the technology. J.P. Morgan’s Zack Anderson said agentic commerce could simplify purchasing. Anderson acknowledged safety concerns with reliable and secure agent payments.
